Meta appears to be preparing one of WhatsApp’s most requested features yet. Scheduled messages may soon arrive on the platform, allowing users to send texts automatically at a chosen time.

Scheduled Messages Spotted in WhatsApp Beta

According to findings shared by WABetaInfo, references to scheduled messaging have been discovered in a recent WhatsApp TestFlight beta for iOS. The feature is still under development and is not currently accessible to beta testers.

A screenshot included in the report shows a new “Scheduled Messages” option within the Group Info section. The feature appears alongside existing options like Media, Links, and Docs, as well as Starred, indicating that Meta is integrating scheduled messaging directly into WhatsApp’s chat management interface.

A Long-Requested Feature Finally in Development

Scheduled messaging has become standard across several messaging platforms over the years. Apps like Telegram, Instagram, and iMessage already allow users to send messages at a specific time, while WhatsApp users have relied on workarounds such as automation through the Shortcuts app.

Once available, the feature will simplify reminders, birthday wishes, work updates, and timed announcements directly within WhatsApp without third-party tools.

Details Are Still Unclear

It remains unclear how advanced WhatsApp’s implementation will be. For example, Telegram includes a “Repeat” option that automatically sends recurring messages at set intervals, turning chats into reminder systems.

For now, Meta has not confirmed if WhatsApp’s scheduled messages will include automation tools similar to those offered on Instagram.

Rollout Timeline

As noted by WABetaInfo, the feature is still in internal development. Once ready, it will first roll out to a limited group of beta testers for feedback before expanding to a wider release.

Even without a confirmed launch timeline, scheduled messages are shaping up to be a meaningful quality-of-life improvement for WhatsApp users.
